Sunday, January 3, 2021 Resurrection Church Bulletin
THE EPIPHANY OF THE LORD
This great day in the life of the church, tells us more than the jealousy of a threatened king, the ardent search of the wise men from the east, and their discovery of the Savior and Mary, His Mother. The event has allowed so many rich traditions to develop to enhance our faith. The number of visitors with three gifts for royalty, priesthood and eventual anointing in death, the star directing them like a GPS, and the humility of these rich visitors coming before the infant. The message to use Paul’s words is ‘no less than this’. I am included as a coheir, I have life in the Lord because He is my Savior. I am sent, like them on a different route to bring my experience of Jesus Christ to others. It is no less than this. May I offer the gift of self, the richness of my faith, and travel the journey with others in this New Year.
The Annual Polar Plunge was held on New Year’s Day at 12 noon
at Rye Town Park Beach.
(L to R)Jack Buttigieg, Nick McGuire and Hannah McGovern
represented our parish and participated in
19th Annual Community event.
These brrr-ave teenagers are juniors at Rye High School.
The monies raised at the event support Resurrection Outreach ( 2 soup kitchens in Port Chester) and the ALS Foundation.
Thanks to the 100 "cool" participants
who made this year’s polar plunge a success!
On behalf of our priests and rectory staff,
I want to express our deep thanks and appreciation
for your Christmas cards, family photos, gifts and goodies.
Your thoughtfulness is sincerely appreciated.
God bless you all.
Happy New Year!
NEW PASTORAL ASSOCIATE
We were sad to say goodbye to Sister Danielle Baran last summer as she was elected Provincial Superior of the US Sisters of the Resurrection. Sister Danielle was a Pastoral Associate at Resurrection since 2013.
She will be sorely missed. Hopefully, when the pandemic is under control and winding down we will welcome Sister Danielle back for a fitting farewell.
Last Fall, we interviewed several people to take Sister Danielle's place.
I am grateful to Meredith Michel, Fr. David, and the committee for their advice.
We have selected Mrs. Megan Fraino Rodriguez as our new
Pastoral Associate/Director Teen Ministry effective tomorrow, January 4, 2021.
Meg Rodriguez attended the College of Mount Saint Vincent in Riverdale and holds a MA from Villanova. Mrs. Rodriguez has been a Campus Minister at Saint John’s University, Queens since 2013. She also worked in the Office of Youth/Young Adult Ministry for the Salesian Fathers, New Rochelle. We are looking forward to Meg joining our parish and staff. Her office will be on the second floor of the PREP building. She can be reached at 914 967-0142 during regular business hours.
Welcome to Resurrection Meg Rodriguez!
2020 Cardinal's Appeal
The results of the 2020 Cardinal's Appeal in our parish are in!
We SURPASSED our goal for the 40th straight year even though the world has suffered a global pandemic and many people have been adversely affected.
Since 1980, the good people of Resurrection have been very generous to the Annual Cardinal's Appeal. This year, almost 400 families participated in this life-giving appeal which supports the pastoral, educational, and spiritual ministries of the Archdiocese of New York.
Thank you for your generosity.
for deceased loved ones of 2020
who were buried at Resurrection Church will be held on
Sunday, January 10, 2021 at 11:15 AM.
It is a noble custom to remember our deceased loved ones at mass.
There will be a candlelight service and the names of loved ones will be announced. Families and friends are welcome. (sorry we cannot add names)
Christmas was probably very sad because of the loss of a loved one especially during the extraordinary year of the global pandemic.
All are invited.

Parish Religious Education classes
will not be returning to in-person instruction in January as we had hoped
Although we are disappointed by this development, the safety of our students, parents, and catechists is our first priority.
e will continue with our remote learning plan until the end of Easter break.
At that point, we will reassess the situation and determine if we can return to in-person instruction for the remainder of the school year. We sincerely appreciate the time and effort that students are taking with their studies and are grateful for the support that parents are providing during this difficult time.
Bible Book Club
All are invited. We will discuss (by phone conference) a book a month
(February thru May 2021.)
Our first book discussion is Feb18th
The Memoirs of St Peter: A New Translation of the Gospel According to Mark
