Resurrection School continues to put the health and safety of our students, teachers, staff and families at the forefront. Our teachers and staff are vaccinated and we are so grateful for their commitment to our community.
The 8th grade Resurrection class would like to express their gratitude to the parishioners of Resurrection Parish for their generous donations to the Midnight Run Collection. Thanks to your generosity we will be able to provide our homeless friends with much-needed items; as you can imagine the need is particularly great this year. We are blessed with such a wonderful parish community. Thank you.

FOR TWO MILLENNIA, WE CATHOLICS HAVE BELIEVED THAT WE BEST KEEP HOLY THE LORD'S DAY BY SUNDAY MASS!
FOR TWO MILLENNIA, WE CATHOLICS HAVE BELIEVED THAT WE BEST KEEP HOLY THE LORD'S DAY BY SUNDAY MASS!
YES, FOR THE LAST YEAR, WE HAVE PRUDENTLY BEEN ABLE TO DECIDE THAT THE EMERGENCY HEALTH CRISIS CAN ALLOW US TO EXCUSE OURSELVES FROM THAT GOD-GIVEN OBLIGATION.
OUR ELDERLY, OR PEOPLE WITH COMPROMISING CONDITIONS THAT WEAKEN THEM CAN STILL EXCUSE THEMSELVES, AS HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE CASE.
BUT FOR THE MAJORITY OF US - ARE WE GOING TO RESTAURANTS? TO THE KIDS' SOCCER AND LITTLE LEAGUE GAMES? TO THE STORE? TO THE BEAUTY PARLOR? TO GATHERINGS WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS?
WELL, THEN, IT'S TIME TO GET BACK TO MASS.
ONE OF OUR FINE PASTORS GAVE ME THIS INCIDENT.
HE STOPPED AT THE SUPERMARKET IN HIS NEIGHBORHOOD FOR A BIT OF SHOPPING. THERE HE KEPT MEETING PARISHIONERS WHO GREETED HIM AND TOLD HIM HOW THEY MISSED SUNDAY MASS AND WANTED TO GET BACK. FINALLY, EXASPERATED, HE REPLIED, "HERE YOU ARE IN A CROWDED STORE SHOPPING, TAKING YOUR TIME, IN CONTACT WITH ITEMS TOUCHED BY HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE.
CHURCH IS A LOT SAFER! COME BACK TO GET FOOD FOR YOUR SOUL!"
A YEAR AGO, WE, YOUR PASTORS, ADVISED YOU NOT TO COME TO CHURCH. WE HAD NO CHOICE SINCE WISE HEALTH GUIDELINES REQUIRED US TO CLOSE OUR CHURCH BUILDINGS. WE REMINDED OUR PEOPLE THAT PROTECTING OUR HEALTH, AND THAT OF OTHERS, IN THE MIDST OF AN INTERNATIONAL PANDEMIC WAS A VERY GOOD MORAL REASON NOT TO ATTEND MASS.
OUR PARISHES RESPONDED WITH LIVE-STREAM MASSES, BUT ALL KNOW THOSE, HOWEVER MUCH APPRECIATED, ARE NOT THE SAME AS "BEING THERE." IN THE SUMMER, THOSE HEALTH PRECAUTIONS EASED UP A BIT, AND WE COULD RE-OPEN AND INVITE A LIMITED NUMBER BACK. OUR PARISHES ROSE TO THE OCCASION WITH SCRUPULOUS CLEANING, SANITATION, VENTILATION, DISTANCING AND RESTRICTIONS - MASKS, NO HOLY WATER OR SIGN OF PEACE, NO CONTACT OR COMMUNION FROM THE CHALICE - AND YOU GRADUALLY BEGAN TO RETURN.
NO MORE GRADUAL ABOUT IT! IT'S TIME TO GET BACK TO SUNDAY MASS!
LAST SUNDAY WE CELEBRATED OUR HIGHEST HOLY DAY- EASTER! JESUS HAS RISEN FROM THE DEAD! THAT VERY NIGHT, THE GOSPEL TELLS US, HE CELEBRATED MASS WITH THE TWO DISCIPLES HE HAD MET ON THE ROAD TO EMMAUS. HE DID THAT EVENING WHAT HE HAD DONE THE THURSDAY BEFORE AT HIS LAST SUPPER. AND, "THEY RECOGNIZED HIM IN THE BREAKING OF THE BREAD!" WE RECOGNIZE JESUS AT MASS AND HOLY COMMUNION, WE ENTER AGAIN THE ETERNAL, INFINITE MYSTERY OF HIS DEATH ON THE CROSS AND RESURRECTION FROM THE DEAD. EVERY SUNDAY MASS IS RENEWED OF THE LAST SUPPER, GOOD FRIDAY AND EASTER.

Mother's Day Spiritual Bouquet
Mass Remembrance
Please submit the Mothers Day Remembrance envelopes in the first collection today. A novena of Masses will be celebrated for the names submitted. Please list names of Mothers on the top front of the envelopes. The suggested donation is $20.It is important to remember and honor our Mothers at Mass.

Jesus speaks of a shepherd working only for pay, with no real concern for the sheep being well cared for. But Jesus is our shepherd and would lay down His own life for all those in his flock. God loves Him for His willingness to sacrifice Himself for the sake of all God’s children.
TRAINING FOR NEW ALTAR SERVERS
A NEW CLASS OF ALTAR SERVERS HAS BEGUN. ANY BOY OR GIRL IN GRADES 4 - 8 WHO IS INTERESTED IN BECOMING AN ALTAR SERVER WILL NEED TO ATTEND TWO ONE-HOUR TRAINING SESSIONS.

DIAPER AND BABY ITEMS COLLECTION
May is the month of Mary and this year we are celebrating the Blessed Mother Mary and all mothers by reaching out to young mothers in need.
For two weekends, May 1st and 2nd, Mother’s Day weekend, and May 8th and 9th, the Outreach Committee will be collecting boxes of diapers, baby wipes, and new baby clothes/blankets, etc. in St. Joseph’s chapel at the front
of the church.
These much-needed items will be distributed to families through our sister parish Holy Rosary, and Good Counsel Daystar home.
Please donate diapers of all sizes, baby wipes, and new layette items for these young mothers.
Share the joy of Motherhood and thank you for your continued generosity and support.
POTS will be having a Virtual Benefit on May 26th at 7pm. This will take the place of the Gala that was postponed from 2020. POTS recognizes Chris Bean and Maureen Gomez for their remarkable contributions to this organization.
MAY BAPTISM CLASS IS MAY 24th
May's Baptism Class will be held on Monday, May 24th at 7:30 - 8:30 pm in the
Lower Church Hall.
Parents are required to attend this class.

• Late Registration- May 14 - June 11 (a $50.00 late fee will apply)
Catechists and other volunteers are needed! If you would like to be a catechist or a hallway volunteer please indicate so on your registration. Catechists will receive a full-tuition discount. Co-catechists and other volunteers will receive a 50% discount. Please consider this a meaningful and spiritually fulfilling way to serve our Resurrection Parish.
