POPE FRANCIS MEETS PRESIDENT BIDEN
Last Friday, October 29, Pope Francis met with President Biden in Rome. It was only the second audience between a Pope and a US Catholic President. The first meeting was on July 2, 1963, when President John F Kennedy met with Pope Paul VI.
The White House said Biden and Pope Francis “will discuss working together on efforts grounded in respect for fundamental human dignity, including ending the pandemic, tackling the climate crisis and caring for the poor.”
These issues are important to the common good. They are, also, safe places of convergence between President Biden and the leader of his church.
We pray that the conversation between President Biden and Pope Francis will be an occasion of fruitful dialogue and productive listening and an opportunity to advance a respect for the dignity of all persons at every stage in life, in particular, the unborn.
ALL SAINTS NOVEMBER 1st
All Saints Day is Monday, November 1st . It falls on a Monday this year, it is NOT a Holy Day of Obligation.
Masses are at 8 am and 9 am.
ALL SOULS NOVEMBER 2nd
All Souls Day is Tuesday, November 2nd. Masses are 8 am and 9 am.
There is a beautiful custom of having Masses said for loved ones. Our parish will offer a Novena of Masses for the names submitted and souls in purgatory during November.
Please submit the All Souls envelope with the names of loved ones – in the Sunday Collection basket or to the Rectory. Suggested offering $25.
The POTS Thanksgiving 2021 Signup is Officially Live.
Volunteers and guests will need to show proof of vaccination. Unfortunately, we cannot allow any volunteers under the age of 12.
Since we will be serving far more guests hotboxed meals instead of sit-down meals this year we will encourage our turkey donors (if they feel comfortable) to slice their turkeys at home and bring the meat for drop off at the front of Resurrection on Wednesday the day before Thanksgiving between the hours of 8 am and 12 pm. If you don’t feel comfortable carving your turkey, NO WORRIES! Please drop it off tightly wrapped in aluminum foil and placed in a leak-proof bag.
I am also happy to announce that the new owner of Chrisfield’s Prime Meats in Rye has offered to roast extremely large turkey breasts (over 20 lbs.) for those parishioners who would like to donate a turkey but simply do not have the time or refrigerator space to do so. They are presently taking orders and can be reached at: (914) 967-0152

OUR PARISH CONGRATULATES TEEN ROWERS
Last Sunday, October 24th, the prestigious “Head of the Charles” Regatta was held in Boston, Massachusetts on the Charles River. There were 300,000 spectators.
It is the biggest 3-day regatta in the world. The best rowers in our nation compete in this 3-mile historic race on the complicated Charles River.
In the Young Men Division (ages 16 and 17) there were 80 boats that qualified out of several hundred in the US. Jack Buttigieg, a sacristan at Resurrection and a member of the “Row America Rye” crew team participated. Besides being a sacristan in our parish he is also a volunteer Lector, Eucharistic minister, and Usher.
We are excited to report that Jack and his teammates placed THIRD in this prestigious regatta last weekend!
Some of his teammates are also teenagers from our parish -Pat Moran, Sophia Cabrera (Coxswain), and Mateo Valentine. Congratulations to Jack and his teammates for their hard work and dedication on this monumental achievement of receiving a bronze medal. Jack will be attending Boston University and a member of the crew team in the fall.

ANNUAL CYO BASKETBALL MASS
The Annual CYO Mass to start the basketball season will be held on Sunday, November 21, 2021. Over 325 children are enrolled.
• Grades 3-4-5 will attend the 8:45 AM Mass.
• Grades 6-7-8 will attend the 11:15 AM Mass.
Refreshments will be served in the lower church hall after each mass.
MASS RESUMES AT OSBORN
After 20 long months, weekly mass at the Osborn retirement center will resume on Saturday, November 6 at 4:15 PM for residents only.
Unfortunately, families and neighbors are not permitted - for the present time. We will let you know when it opens up for guests.
The priests of Resurrection have a long tradition of volunteering to celebrate a Saturday afternoon mass at the Osborn.

31st Annual Children's Collective Coat Drive
Homeless children and their parents need your clean gently used coats more than ever!
Tonight 17,000 homeless children will be sleeping in NYC Homeless Shelters!
Donate your winter coats to The Children's Collective's Annual Coat Drive.
Donations can be dropped off in the Resurrection vestibule from Nov 1st to Nov 11th Every coat will be given to a child or parent in need.

COMMUNITY CLEAN UP DAY
There will be a community cleanup and Hurricane Ida recovery day at Disbrow Park 141 Oakland Beach Avenue on Saturday, November 6 from 9 AM to 11 AM rain or shine. Young people are eligible for community service.
OUR SUNDAY VISITOR
There are complimentary copies of the Catholic newspaper, “Our Sunday Visitor” in the Main Lobby and at the back doors of the church (facing parking lot) in the pamphlet rack.
