CARDINALS APPEAL 2022
Today there will be a special second collection for the 2022 Cardinals appeal which helps us to support the charitable pastoral and spiritual activities of the Archdiocese of New York.
Our parish also receives a sizable rebate if we reach our goal. There will be a second collection at today’s mass to support the important needs of the Cardinal's Appeal.
If you already donated to the Cardinals Appeal please disregard the second collection and accept our deep thanks.

Pro-Life Statement of Cardinal Dolan
Congratulations to Michael Lavelle who received the Resurrection Scholarship last Sunday at mass. The award is in the memory of Msgr. Patrick J Boyle, former pastor.
Michael was a volunteer Sunday school teacher and an outstanding student-athlete at Rye High School. The $2000 scholarship will be used towards his college tuition at Villanova University in the fall.
Congratulations to Michael, and his parents Tom and Regina.
Having a Mass said for a loved one at Resurrection Church is a noble and ideal way to honor a deceased person. There is a beautiful tradition in the Catholic Church of offering Mass for the soul of a family member or friend. The name of the deceased is announced by the priest and published in our Sunday bulletin.
The 2023 Mass Intentions Book at Resurrection IS OPEN. There will be a limit of seven masses per family and two names per Mass.
The weekday Mass offering is $20.00 per Mass and the weekend Masses offering is $25.00 per Mass.
We will be using a new online system that will allow you to view and select available Mass times and make the offering payment by credit card.

As we draw closer to the completion of the academic year, we wanted to congratulate our 8th graders who graduated on June 9th.
As they were the student leaders of our school this year, we wanted to share some wonderful news!
They have earned $600,000 in scholarship monies towards their high school educations! How proud we are of our graduates!
We also say a special thank you to their parents whose commitment to Resurrection and Catholic education is so appreciated. Thank you!

PREP Registration for 2022/23 IS OPEN
Please see our website www.ryeprep.org for more information on class days/times and fee schedules. Places in each class are limited and are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Those who complete the registration process first will have the widest choice of days and times.
Our volunteer catechists and co-catechists are the heart and soul of our program. Please consider sharing your faith with the youth of our Parish. Tuition discounts apply.
In addition, if you are aware of parishioners that have children entering Grade 1 next year and who currently do not have children attending the PREP program, please let them know that registration will be opening next week.
HOLY WATER
A beautiful custom in the Catholic Church is dipping your hand in one of the holy water fonts and making the sign of the cross in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit amen-as you enter the church or leave the church.
We encourage all people, young and old, to start using the holy water fonts again.
Also, it is a great teaching tool for parents to teach the children to make the sign of the cross and remind them of the life-giving waters of their baptism.
US MILITARY ADMISSIONS SPONSOR
A young man from our community will be taking the Admission test to enter the US military this summer. A recent high school graduate, he is from a single-parent home and is disadvantaged. There is a need for a generous parishioner to SPONSOR him for a six-week tutoring class to properly prepare him for the test in Fort Hamilton, Bklyn in early August. The cost to sponsor the tutoring classes for this fine young man is $1800. Contact the Rectory if you can be a sponsor.
PART-TIME PREP POSITION
There is a part-time clerk position available in the PREP office effective August 22 from 9 AM to 3 PM Mondays and Wednesdays.

FALL IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER AND THE MUSIC MINISTRY NEEDS YOU!
Before covid hit us in 2019 the RES music ministry had 12 in the adult choir and 32 in the children's choir. Unfortunately, as with many things, Covid has really affected our membership and we only had 4 people in the adult choir and 7 in the children's choir this year. I want to thank each of those choir members for their continued support. The GOOD NEWS is that we now have PLENTY of room FOR YOU to join our groups in the fall!
I am looking for singers of all ages. We especially need men, both Tenors, and Basses. Don't sing? Well don't worry, I am looking for instrumentalists too! Does someone in your family play the violin, flute, guitar, oboe, drums, or Clarinet? We have a place for them too!
There is a possibility if we get the interest and commitment from enough who are interested, that we may be starting an adult handbell choir as well! What's that? You don't know what a handbell choir is? Stay tuned for more information on the possibility of this fun and exciting group!
Over the next few months, please take the time to think and pray about how you can share your time and talent with the music ministry this fall!

Opening Your Heart explores the fundamental questions of our Catholic faith and our relationship with Jesus Christ. We'll dig into topics like prayer, reading the Bible, the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives, and what we're supposed to do with suffering that feels senseless. As we're wrestling with our questions through the study, we'll be challenged to open our hearts to the only One who can bring the healing and transformation we so desire.
Classes will begin in the fall on either Tuesday mornings or Wednesday evenings.

Gospel: Luke 9:51-62
Jesus set out for Jerusalem, and passed through a town where he was not welcomed. He reprimanded his disciples for desiring vengeance against the town.
One man wanted to follow Jesus when he had finished his duties at home. Jesus expressed that a man who begins a task, but constantly looks back is unfit for the reign of God.
